{"id":342,"date":"2024-10-16T21:55:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T21:55:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test7.samplewebsitelink.com\/parkinsonz\/?p=342"},"modified":"2025-05-01T21:00:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T21:00:25","slug":"pd-in-the-paralympics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test7.samplewebsitelink.com\/parkinsonz\/pd-in-the-paralympics\/","title":{"rendered":"PD in the Paralympics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Rower&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/todd.vogt\">Todd Vogt<\/a>&nbsp;will soon be off to Paris to represent the United States and the Parkinson\u2019s Community at the Paralympics. Todd was diagnosed with PD at the age of 42 in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like me, a lifelong athlete, he thought his athletic career was over when he learned he had Young Onset Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a rough start, he connected with others who had been living with Parkinson\u2019s disease. He learned that by making intense exercise a priority, he may actually be able to slow the progression of the disease, and increase the quality of his future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People with Parkinson\u2019s can have huge benefits by connecting with others who are going or who have been through the same experiencees. By supporting each other and encouraging each other to think big and take on challenges we can stay motivated to keep fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Todd attempted to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics but was named an alternate.
