Welcome to Our Parkinsonz Community

A Parkinson’s diagnosis is a terrifying, life-changing moment. Many of us imagine a steady downward spiral—one that ends in complete disability within a few years.

When I was first diagnosed, I was overwhelmed. I experienced denial, fear, anxiety, and depression. Even as a physician, I found myself completely unprepared for what lay ahead. It took nearly a year to accept the diagnosis and find a positive trajectory.

What changed everything was hearing from others who had been through it. Their strength, honesty, and resilience gave me hope. They showed me that progress was still possible—and helped me rediscover purpose and direction.

Now, I want to pay it forward. Wherever you are in your journey, know this: you’re not alone. And one day, it is my goal that your story is one that gives someone else hope.

Our Parkinsonz Community focuses on gratitude, setting and achieving goals and keeping a positive mindset.

We cheer each other on and help one another find solutions to the challenges we face.

Four years later, and I am happy to report that I am in far better physical shape and my life has more meaning and purpose than it ever has. I owe this mostly to meeting and connecting with others who have been there and had been living with this disease for years.

I continue to be inspired when I meet people like Rhonda Foulds, who was diagnosed with PD in 1998, been through multiple DBS surgeries, and revisions, and is still running marathons. She has run over 100 marathons, including Boston 10+ times.

I hope this will be a site, where we can continue to inspire each other, share our challenges and solutions to help us live our best lives moving forward.

Thank you.

Sara
